DX: You know we love that “Ill Street Blues” though. That’s the shit we want, as much as we can get.
Kool G Rap: Oh no doubt! I’m taking it the “Ill Street Blues” direction. I’m taking it every single direction [on this album]. I really doubt if anybody that’s a G Rap fan, and familiar with the G Rap body of work, I seriously doubt if they would be disappointed.
DX: Now, you said these names that did the production work aren’t really known, [so] can we get the names just to give ‘em some pub?
Kool G Rap: Absolutely. We got niggas like [De La Soul producer] Supa Dave, [Philadelphia-based production duo] Level 13, The Insurgency, my man Leaf Dog, and my man Pokerbeats who contributed in an amazing way to this album to make it what it is, and definitely got that heat.
DX: How you find these cats…?
Kool G Rap: I found ‘em all through MySpace, and Facebook. I posted up a email for all producers to send tracks to, and these are some of the cats that sent tracks. And them shits is undeniable.
DX: You couldn’t of done this like 10 years ago…
Kool G Rap: Exactly! But now you can run wit’ it. So I’m taking advantage of all the new technology.

Q1
wat have you been up to scince we last herd from you?
Living life. I didnt "quit" music or stop or move to France like some idiotic media parasites put it. I wasnt in jail either for 5 years. I love the rumors i suppose. It only reassures peoples stupidity and shortcut to thinking. I never stopped recording i have two albums worth of raw ready to be served and shot up in your fucking veins. i traveled a lot, wrote a film script..made beats, read a lot of books, sodomized whores.
Q2
wat is your veiws on hip hop today
Depends. I like the shitty unlistenable stuff lately. Seems the worse it is i like it more. Thats one of the reasons i kinda took a step back and went really underground you could say, the quality control has been permanently removed so its a mockery really. I'd rather listen to Lil Boosie or Plies than some little shithead who just started spitting in 08 and thinks hes a rapper or knows what it really is. Every douche has a studio now and thinks you owe them something. No one comes original anymore, same flows..same metaphors. New jacks ask me for advice i tell em quit, or sell drugs you have a better and longer career, the doors are closed.I do hear things here and there that are ok, mostly i listen to rap from 82-97. I could tell then things were declining a bit, I just didnt think it would get this bad haha..like i said id rather listen to shitty down south retard crunk. Hopefully things will start looking up. Sorry im such a negative bastard
Q3
is there any chance they will be a new non phixion album
I dont know anything about that and as far as i know they are rumors. The best rumor i heard was that i was addicted to heroin and moved to Holland haha..that was a good one or i beat up a cop after stealing a truck. I mean where the fuck do people get this from? I did a show in Colorado and some tripped out surfer comes up to me and goes "dude...its you its really you".."I heard you died last year"..
Q4
wats have you got coming up in the future??
New album will be out in March.Expect an onslaught of music. The cult is alive.
Jam Baxters Debut Double Disc LP out now 2010 on High Focus Records http://www.high-focus.com album produced by Naive & Kerem Fraiche with a Bonus track produced by 184. Features from Contact Play, Verb T, Fliptrix, Dr. Syntax, Mowgli & Maria. You can buy the album now at www.high-focus.com
assa is part of the tactical thinking crew and primitive form, he is a dope mc that is not to be slept on! you can find him on leafdogs solo album coming in may 2011
Q1 what got you into hip hop
started rapping for something to do really, I never thought id still be doing it at 27. I remember recording rhymes using a playstation one to play the instrumental and an alarm clock with a tape deck and a built in mic, makes you think why would you every need a tape deck and a mic on an alarm clock?
Q2 who inspired your doulbe time flow?
er nobody in particular, I aways buzzed off fast rhymes, I learned every word to 'gimmie some mo'. I never really planned on being a "fast rapper" I just always seem to try and cram too many words in to each bar, I get told to tone it down when recording, I'm forever taking out syllables and putting syllables back in, drives me mad sometimes.
Q3 will there be a new TT album, and will primitive form ever regroup for a new album???
I'd love to work on another tactical thinking album, I think it will happen again in the not so distant future. its hard to motivate seven people, and communicating sometimes was a pain in th arse, "who's wrote for this track? who's on this beat?" altogether though I think we did ok for a first release the idea was to raise awareness for each individual artist amd I think it did that. its still on amazon, itunes and band camp by the way so go get it, its called ' too broke to go solo'
as for primitive form I think some things are best left alone, had some good times with the primitive lot an we'll probably makes some new tunes eventually but I don't think you'll be seeing us doing step step any time soon. Q4 wat have you got comig up??
as for me, now, I have been working on my solo album ' everyday user' for almost 3 years if not more, this is down to other projects taking priority, laziness, lack of self belief and a bunch of other excuses. but its in its final stages now and it bangs......hard! its produced by naive and pete cannon and guests include dr syntax, jay madden, derogatory, mic dyson, foola, bva, deadline, jim raygun, tenchoo, lego and your good self leafy. its gonna be out late aug through an independent label I won't say which yet and I'm gonna be working on a bunch of other stuff building up to its release including a project with derogatory, also Im featuring on quite a few albums this year so keep eye out for mr assaman. peace
